Grow your mind. Grow your business.
Grow Gloucestershire.

June 20th 2018

Founded in 2002, Gloucestershire Professionals is a group of volunteers representing professional institutes and membership bodies in Gloucestershire.

We share the common objective of helping the county’s business communities, public, voluntary and education sectors to share information, expertise and knowledge as well as ‘best-practice’ through our network of several thousand members.

Volunteer representatives from each body meet regularly to share knowledge, news, institute-specific events and plan the annual conference. New member institutes are welcome to join the group at any time.

The group is responsible for Growing Gloucestershire, a not-for-profit conference run annually, aimed at educating, ‘growing’ and sharing knowledge and fostering relationships.

Growing Gloucestershire Annual Conference

This well-received conference, which has been running since 2003, brings together a wide business community skill set under one roof for one day a year. It attracts hundreds of people and provides the perfect platform for sharing ideas, expertise, good practice and networking with all business sizes.

Anyone can attend – you do not need to be a member of an institute or professional body.

The  conference seminars are split into three themes: what the 4th Industrial Revolution is, what effect it might have on you and what opportunities it will present.. The conference will also have four keynote speakers to stimulate personal development skills.

The Chartered Institute of Management Accountants, the Chartered Institute of Personnel and Development, and the Chartered Management Institute and the Federation of Small Businesses are the driving force behind the conference which, in 2018, is chaired by Chartered Management Accountant Jonathan Nicholls.

Chartered Institute of Management Accountants (CIMA)

The Chartered Institute of Management Accountants (CIMA) is the world’s largest and leading professional body of management accountants.

CIMA helps individuals and businesses to succeed by harnessing the full power of management accounting – not just accounting for the balance sheet, but accounting for business.

CIMA provides continuing professional development services, funds academic research, develops thought leadership, monitors professional standards, maintains a code of ethics for members, and works with external tuition providers and assessment services to provide the best study and examination experience.

Chartered Institute of Personnel and Development (CIPD)

The Chartered Institute of Personnel and Development is the professional body for HR and people development – experts on the world of work and career partner to over 140,000 members around the world.

Chartered Management Institute (CMI)

The Chartered Management Institute (CMI) is the only chartered professional body for management and leaderships, dedicated to improving managers’ skills and growing the number of qualified managers.

CMI provides employers and individual managers with access to the latest management thinking and practical online support that helps them to embrace change, create high-performing teams and keep ahead of the curve.

With a member community of more than 140,000 managers and leaders, CMI promote high standards of ethical practice through their Professional Code of Conduct, and help managers to build their expertise through online networks, regional events and mentoring opportunities.

The Federation of Small Businesses (FSB)

The FSB is the UK’s biggest business membership group with over 160,000 members nationwide all of whom receive an unrivalled package of benefits to help with their day-to-day business needs.

Formed in 1974 as a lobbying group for small business owners, the FSB is now widely recognised as being the foremost voice for all small businesses and we work hard locally, regionally and national to ensure the needs and concerns of SME owners are firmly on the radar of politicians and other key stakeholders.

Here in Gloucestershire we have around 3,000 members covering every possible sector and our team work hard to represent and support all these members by highlighting issues and having regular contact with all those who have the power to affect the small business community locally.
